It’s Fearless Friday! Today we are going to take a brief look into the world of men and dealing with conflict.
Conflict is one of those areas most of us would rather avoid.
Have you ever done the passive/aggressive dance rather than deal with the issue at hand?
Sure we all have and still do at times.
On today’s Fearless Friday I’d like to share with you a few key tips to help you to begin dealing with conflict in a way that
serves both you and the person(s) you are in conflict with.
The first thing you have to do is take full responsibility for how you are showing up!
This is tough especially if you feel you are in the right.
However, dealing with conflict in an enlightened and powerful way as leaders do, is to own your state.
That anger and resentment you are feeling is not because of the other person. It is because it was already there.
The person you are in conflict with is just the trigger.
Imagine seeing conflict as a gift. It’s going to reveal to you who you really are.
Are you going to react to this person or are you going to respond?
Relationships, as in the one you have with your beloved, are going to be the ultimate test of who you are.
This is where most men F things up!
Most men wait until she comes around and makes things right.
I challenge all my coaching clients to shake the standard and be first. What I mean is that if you are feeling that there is something going on or you know things need to improve, be the first to address it.
Not in a needy or weak way, but in a strong, concerned and solution oriented way.
Let her hear you fight for the relationship. Admit you could do better and want to get to the root of why things went sideways.
You may think you only tossed a pebble at her, but to her you threw a bolder.
Dealing with conflict is a multidimensional entity. There’s way more to it than I can possibly address here.
However, if you can rise above it and take full responsibility for the emotions that are coming up for you, you’ll have a learning and growing moment that will make you truly feel remarkable.
Remember, you are not alone on the journey…I’ve got your back!
